Raiders’ Vaughan set to play volleyball for Albany

Loudoun County High School rising senior Andersen Vaughan has committed to attend and play NCAA Division I volleyball at the University at Albany in New York, beginning in the fall of 2018. Vaughan was the lone junior to earn first-team All-State honors in 2016 after helping Loudoun County win its ninth state championship in the last 10 years.

Potomac Falls alum Carlton to volley in Women’s U20 World Championship

Holly Carlton has earned a spot on the U.S. Women’s Junior National Team for the 2017 FIVB Volleyball Women’s U20 World Championship. The Potomac Falls High School alum is part of USA Volleyball's 12-player roster for the 16-team tournament being contested July 14-23 in Mexico.

Wildcats strike gold on volleyball court

The Western Loudoun Volleyball Club U14 Wildcats went undefeated in pool play and won a pair of three-set matches in the semifinals and final to claim the championship at the Maryland Juniors 14s Tournament, April 22 in Jessup, Md. This was the third gold medal for the Wildcats during the current club season.

Carlton to take court for USA Volleyball in Pan American Cup

Holly Carlton admits she was not overly optimistic prior to reading an email from USA Volleyball one late night in March. More than three weeks had passed since the Potomac Falls High School alum participated in a tryout March 3-5 at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs. "I opened it up and was just really surprised," Carlton explained of learning she was one of 12 players selected to represent the United States in the 2017 Under-20 Women’s Pan American Cup.

Potomac Falls alum Holly Carlton to play for junior national volleyball team

Potomac Falls High School alum Holly Carlton was one of 12 players selected for the U.S. Women’s Junior National Volleyball Team. Carlton and her teammates will compete for the United States in the 2017 U20 Women’s Pan American Cup, May 8-13 in Costa Rica.

NVVA 13-1 Select nets gold volleyball title

The Northern Virginia Volleyball Association 13-1 Select team won the gold bracket in the 13s Mixed (Open and Club) division at the Irish Rumble, contested March 11-12 in Pennsylvania. Head coach Meghan Dudley praised her team's performance: "Irish Rumble was such a great tournament. 13-1 Select went undefeated all weekend and finished first in the gold bracket, beating Metro in 3."

SYA Wildcats volley to tournament title

The SYA Wildcats 15U volleyball team won the 15 Open division at the Monument City Classic, contested Jan. 14-16 at the Richmond Convention Center. The Wildcats' roster includes five players from Loudoun County High School and one player from John Champe.

Potomac Elite strikes gold on volleyball court

The Potomac Elite 17 team outlasted 11 other teams to strike gold at the MLK Challenge volleyball tournament, contested Jan. 14-15 in Jessup, Md. Potomac Elite's roster includes Woodgrove High School students Meghen Cleary and Mable Henry.

WLVBC holds Certapalooza Day

Western Loudoun Volleyball Club recently kicked off their club season with Certapalooza Day at Patrick Henry College in Purcellville. The day included six teams, 70 players, 12 coaches and eight hours of volleyball to ensure players had the necessary certifications for the season.
