The best of entertaining

Are you an entertainer? Do you get pleasure out of having guests stream in and out of your home at all hours of the day? Do you enjoy neighbors stopping in for a quick catch-up? Do you pull out all the stops for large holiday parties? If you answered yes to any one of these questions, this home stands up to the challenge.

Would you like to catch up with some old friends? Invite them to your private bistro in the lower level. Two chandeliers bounce light off the stone walls and tile floor of the wine cellar that is tucked away in the middle of the home.

Want to spend a night munching on popcorn while viewing an old classic? Your home theater – with green carpeting, green walls and a green tray ceiling – is cozy with nine red chairs, recessed lighting and a projector with a full-wall screen.

Need to escape from the kids? It's easy to do in the game room. Double doors close off the recreational area from the movie theater and the wine cellar to provide privacy for get-togethers with pals. A large room, currently designated as the gym, is at the other end of the recreational room. Both rooms could be transformed into pool or poker room. It's your choice.

At the other end of the basement, and through the media room, is two large storage rooms on either side of an open hallway. Both rooms are large, carpeted and lined with shelves. Another room that branches off the hallway is a crafts room or workshop. Two sets of cabinets make hiding project supplies easy.

An au pair or in-law suite is also on this side of the house. The large bedroom has a large walk-in closet. An attached sitting room awaits a reading chair or television set. A full bathroom rests just outside in the hallway, which has an exit to the outside.

Starting the tour in the basement is no mistake – it is the area of the house that you, as an entertainer, will most likely spend the majority of your time. But take the stairs and you'll find yourself in the mudroom on the main level. It's tiled and has a wet sink and access to the four-bay garage. A powder room is the next door down.

Keep going down the hallway, and you'll come to the dining room at the front of the house. A large chandelier has a commanding presence that immediately attracts your attention. Three large windows look over the courtyard at the front of the house. Oak wood flooring, chair railing and shadow-box trim finish off the room.

The two-story foyer is just outside the dining room. White tumbled marble is elaborately displayed as it continues into the bathroom at the other end. A crystal chandelier catches the eye and instantly gives away the home's glamour. The staircase stops at a landing with three large windows before finishing its climb to the second level. The full bathroom off the foyer has a large, framed mirror offset by two wall sconces. It has a chandelier for extra lighting and a vanity with green granite and cherry cabinets.

The formal living room is at the far end of the house. It has windows on three sides with French doors leading out to the back patio. Through the living room, an archway leads to the main-level office. The room is complete with views of the back of the property, a stone fireplace with slate hearth and mantel and built-in bookshelves and desk.

Two open archways on the other end lead to the sitting area at the back of the house. A wall of windows and two sets of French doors on either side of the room lead to the back deck. Stereo speakers stream out music and set the mood for guests to completely enjoy themselves wherever they roam.

The kitchen connects to the sitting room. It has black granite and cherry cabinets. A center island has the double-bowl sink, and a six-burner stove with hood sits across from it. The kitchen also has a double oven, double warmer and a Sub-Zero refrigerator. The breakfast area is just to the side, it has a stone fireplace and a wall of windows.

Just outside the breakfast area, the back staircase will take you to the laundry room. It has an expanse of shelving, a sink and storage space. A princess suite is also on this side of the house. It has a dormer ceiling, a sitting area with built-ins and a bench seat, a large walk-in closet and a full bathroom.

Down the hall – which is lined with chandeliers – you will come to the second bedroom on the right. It has two closets and a full bathroom, and another bedroom at the opposite end of the house has a walk-in closet and a large, full bathroom.

The master bedroom is at the back of the house. The foyer is just outside the double doors that open to a hallway in the master suite. The bedroom is to the right, with vaulted ceilings and an exit to a private second-story patio. A sitting room with a wall of windows and a fireplace is at the back of the house. It also has an exit to a second private balcony.

At the other end of the suite is the large walk-in closet, a wet bar with a mini fridge and cherry cabinets. The master bedroom has his and her vanities separated by a Roman-style tile soak tub. A water closet has its own sink. The stand-up shower has a seat and two shower heads. A tray ceiling and chandelier in the main area give the room a taste of elegance.

No matter who you're entertaining -- co-workers, friends or even yourself -- make sure it's in this home.
