Cat down a life or two needs help again
Six weeks ago, a small, shy calico cat wandered away from her Hamilton home.
She hasn't been seen since, and her owners haven't given up looking. They are asking for the help of everyone in the area.
She was brought to the Loudoun Veterinary Service in Purcellville earlier this year, barely alive after being struck by a car. They called her Cali and put her back together again – surgery to repair a nearly severed tongue, rest and rehab to regain her hearing and vision.
In June, Cindy and Carl Kirby adopted her, with another special needs cat, and took her home to South St. Paul Street for care and love.
The dubbed her Saleigh, and she began her new life as an indoor cat – no more speeding cars, swooping owls or prowling dogs.
Then one fine June day, she slipped out a door left ajar while groceries were being carried in. The Kirbys and friends have haunted the animal shelter and other vet clinics, talked to neighbors, left food in a live trap, put up posters and logged miles walking the neighborhood, calling her name.
She is a small, adult calico cat. She was wearing a pink breakaway collar with a bell when she wandered off. Anyone who sees her is asked to call the Kirbys (540-338-7737 or cell 540-454-4998), Patty Christ (cell 703-727-7289) or Nancy Meissner (cell 540-454-4998).
