Ashburn girl makes cut on 'America's Got Talent'
Ashburn 4-year-old Kaitlyn Maher advanced to the finals of the NBC show “America's Got Talent” Sept. 9.
Kaitlyn advanced to the top 20 after singing “What a Wonderful World,” during the Sept. 3 episode.
At the end of the episode, viewers voted for their favorites. The top four vote-getters from among the 10 performers advanced, while judges Piers Morgan, Sharon Osbourne and David Hasselhoff chose between the fifth- and sixth-highest vote-getters for the final contestant to advance.
The Sept. 3 episode was the last of four semifinal competitions. On Sept. 9, 10 finalists in the top 20 performed, and the other 10 will perform Sept. 10.
The winner receives $100,000,000 and an act in Las Vegas.
Kaitlyn is the youngest person in the competition. For her audition she sang “Somewhere Out There,” and in the next round she sang “When You Wish Upon a Star.”
