20th anniversary, circus tickets, swimming, gardens, the American Legion, a coffee hour, the Farmers Market and fall reading

20 Years Later: This month launches the 20th anniversary celebration of the CountrySide Women’s Club. The club will officially toast the milestone at its annual fall luncheon on Oct. 10 at the River Creek Country Club. The party includes a fundraising raffle to raise money for area charities. Luncheon tickets are now on sale; the price is $30. Call 703-727-7744.

Circus tickets: The Big Apple Circus returns to Dulles Town Center Sept. 25-Oct. 13. Tickets are now available; call 800-922-3772, Monday through Friday, 10 a.m.-6 p.m.

More swimming: Cascades’ Potomac Lakes pool will be open through Sept. 14. The hours are 4-8 p.m. on Monday-Friday and 11 a.m.-8 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

Garden glories: The Garden Group of the CountrySide Women’s Club visits the nearby Meadowlark Botanical Gardens on Sept. 3, then heads to Vienna for lunch. The 95-acre Meadowlark Gardens complex includes large ornamental display gardens and native plant collections. The Garden Group will meet at the Visitor’s Center at Meadowlark at 10 a.m. Carpools will depart from the Great Falls Plaza on Algonkian Parkway and Lansdowne Plaza. American Legion: American Legion Post 150 meets Sept. 3 at 7:30 p.m. in the clubhouse of the Sterling Ruritan Club, near Church Road in Sterling. Call 703-444-9255.

Coffee hour: Meet with your neighbors and Supervisor Andrea McGimsey on Sept. 6 at the CountrySide Starbucks 10 a.m.- noon. This informal get-together is an opportunity to share your ideas and concerns about the community.

Eat local: The Cascades Farmers Market takes place Sept. 7 in the parking lot of the Senior Center at Cascades Marketplace 9 a.m.-1 p.m.

Fall reading: The book club of the CountrySide Women’s Club meets Sept. 8 at 1 p.m. at the Panera Café in Lansdowne to discuss “Snow Flower and the Secret Fan” by Lisa See. To attend, call 703-430-2191. The Cascades Women’s Book Club is reading “Ivy Cole and the Moon” by Gina Farago for its September meeting, on a date yet to be determined. Call 703-421-1060.
