Good Taste! brings tourists

By Shannon Sollinger

Andrea Falzarano loves to cook, and she runs her own consulting business out of her Lovettsville home.

Put those two together, and Good Taste! Tours, one of Loudoun's newest rural enterprises, was born.

In partnership with Reston Limousine and with Loudoun's wineries and rural restaurants, she brings city dwellers and suburbanites out for a day or weekend in the country.

Her debut tour July 26 hosted 14 guests to a day that started at Doug Fabbioli's winery on Limestone School Road, continued on to the Restaurant at Patowmack Farm above the Potomac River on Lovettsville Road, and ended at Notaviva Vineyards west of Hillsboro for a dessert pairing hosted by Joan Wolford and her Savoire Fare Limited catering of Round Hill.

Some guests spent the weekend at Lansdowne Resort. Others were picked up at either Dulles Town Center or the West Falls Church Metro for the Saturday culinary tour only.

Loudoun's farmland, forests and open spaces are the building block on which Falzarano's enterprise is built.

"We're about getting people from the city and the closer-in suburbs to see what is available out here – the culinary experience, the wine, the scenery."

While some of her tours will target in-town eateries, she said, her business needs rural Loudoun. The county's effort to carve out a rural future for the still-rural acres west and north of Leesburg makes a venture like hers possible, she said.
