Rosefield Farm with a view of the Blue Ridge

By Hannah Hager

Built brick by brick by the home's only owner, Rosefield Farm gives an overwhelming sense that it has been tended to with the utmost love. From the stone courtyard in the circle driveway to the half bathroom in the garage – every detail was constructed with a careful hand.

A stone walkway leads up to the front door. Step inside the quaint foyer and you will automatically feel at ease. A half bath decorated with a green sink and Floridian print wallpaper will put a smile on your face. A coat closet is also in the entryway.

Walk straight, and you will find yourself in the formal living room. You can put it to good use – it has a wood-burning fireplace on one end and a large window through which you can see the Blue Ridge mountains on the far end. Sliding glass doors open up to a private Trex deck with room for a table, chairs and a two-seater bench. A large, mature tree drapes the area, providing shade. The master suite with a full bathroom looks over the porch for the same view.

Back inside, walk through to the dining room at the back of the house. The room boasts oak floors and another large window. A pass-through window to the kitchen is perfect for serving hot dishes. A removable bookshelf separates the dining room from the family room. Angled built-ins surround an open space on the far wall that could fit a couch or a television.

Across the hallway is the informal dining room or eat-in area for the kitchen. A large window overlooking the front courtyard makes for a perfect way to sip coffee through sleepy mornings. Cabinets, storage shelves and a large pantry make up a kitchen for a serious cook. Pots, pans and an abundance of ingredients will find their places here.

Down the hallway, a full bathroom on the right has an extended vanity. At the far end of the house, two bedrooms face each other. One has an architectural niche, and both have large closets.

The laundry room -- also with ample storage -- and the entrance to the garage are just a step away from the bedrooms. The garage could double as a den: a second oven sits in an auxiliary work area for a carpenter seeking a workshop or a hunter looking for a work space. The two-bay garage has walls of shelving and even a small staircase to a storage area above. A half bathroom and a door to a tractor shed are also in the garage.

The lower level of the home has a walk-out and plenty of windows for light. The second family room is very open with three windows and three entrances. A game room with walls of storage, a dark room with shelving and two separate rooms make for the perfect area for families with lots of hobbies.

This home has something to offer for everyone.
