PAX places 10,000th student

The foreign exchange student program PAX, the Program of Academic Exchange, has placed its 10,000th student.

Since 1995, the program has been placing foreign students in schools across the country. Each PAX student stays for 10 months and gets to know dozens of Americans – classmates, teachers, community members – and has a chance to learn about another culture.

Returning home, the PAX student takes with him or her friendships that will last a lifetime and a new understanding of what it means to be an American.

Participants in the 2008-2009 PAX program include students from China, Norway, Germany, Venezuela and many other countries.

A host family provides the students with a home.

For more information, call the PAX office at 1-800-555-6211.
