By Sue Ulland

Kindergarten: Beginning in September, Aldie, Hillsboro and Lincoln elementary schools will have full-day regular kindergarten classes. There will be 25 spaces available at each school for the full-day program. Students who reside outside the areas for the schools may apply for enrollment under the school board’s “under-enrolled policy.” A teacher's assistant will be assigned full-time to any full-day kindergarten class of more than 15 students. Call Hillsboro Elementary for more information at 703-771-6730.

Dual primary: A dual primary for the 10th District seat of the House of Representatives will take place Tuesday, June 10, at the Hillsboro Elementary School from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Pig roast: Doukenie Winery will honor fathers of all ages on Sunday, June 15, with a Father’s Day pig roast noon-6 p.m. Doukenie is located north of Hillsboro on Route 690 (Mountain Road north). Call 540-668-6464, ext. 207, for tickets and more information.

Family Night Movies: Fireman’s Field in Purcellville will be the venue for Family Movie Nights on Fridays, June 20, July 18 and Aug. 15, so mark your calendars now. These are family-oriented, free events. Movies will be announced shortly.

Art exhibit, sale: The Round Hill Arts Center invites all local artists to submit work for its open exhibition of small works for the summer. The exhibit is open to all professional, amateur and high school/college students living within a one-hour drive of Round Hill. Artists must be able to hand deliver and pick up their work by the specified deadlines. All entries must have been completed within the last two years and must be for sale. Entry deadline is Thursday, July 3, at 5 p.m. There is a $20 entry fee. To obtain important entry and delivery specifications, call Hope Hanes at 540-338-5050 or visit www.roundhillartscenter.org.

Rummage sale: The Ladies' Board of Inova Loudoun Hospital is seeking donations for its 70th annual rummage sale scheduled for Oct. 17-18 at the Morven Park Equestrian Center just north of Leesburg off U.S. 15 north. All proceeds benefit the hospital. To donate, call 703-771-2985 and leave a message. A member will return your call and set up a convenient time and place to meet. Help the Ladies' Board celebrate 70 years of giving to the community by donating your usable items to its rummage sale.

Fireworks: The HCA Fourth of July celebration will take place Saturday, July 5, at 5 p.m. The HCA relies on generous contributions for this family-oriented, fun festivity. The fund has about $1,600 now and, therefore, the HCA needs to raise an additional $4,000. The HCA’s annual membership drive is also under way. To join or renew your membership and/or to make a donation to HCA or its fireworks fund, please use the form on the Web site, www.hillsborova.org, and mail it to HCA, 37016 Charles Town Pike, Purcellville, VA 20132. The HCA Web site is a great place to keep informed of upcoming events.
