Bake sale, Men’s and Women’s Day, musical program, NAACP Golf Tournament, a scholarship and a high school reunion

Bake sale: Members of the Grace Annex United Methodist Church in Purcellville will hold a pre-holiday bake sale Saturday, May 24, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. in front of Bloom grocery store in Purcellville. Please come out. You will be able to buy all of your goodies for Memorial Day.
Men’s, Women’s Day: Powells Grove United Methodist Church at 19100 Airmont Road in Airmont will be observing Men's and Women's Day on Sunday, May 25, at 3 p.m. The guest speaker will be Mrs. Kimble Irving (Pastor Al's wife) and musical guests will be the Golden Tones. Dinner will be served immediately following the program.
Musical program: First Mount Olive Baptist Church Missionary Society will present a musical program, Saturday, May 31, 5-7 p.m. This musical will feature the Golden Tones, the Gospel Tones-Rectortown, the King Sisters, First Mount Olive Baptist Church Men’s Chorus, and Mount Zion Men’s Chorus. Refreshments will be served following the program.
Golf tournament: The Loudoun NAACP will be holding a golf fundraiser, Wednesday, June 18, at Stoneleigh Golf Club in Round Hill. Registration begins at 8 a.m. and Shotgun start is at 9 a.m. The format is Captains Choice. It is $85 per person which includes lunch. Prizes will be given to longest drive and closest to the pin (men and women) and a car will be awarded to the hole-in-one winner. To register, contact Michael Weatherton at 703-729-7360. Teams are welcome and the deadline for registration is May 28.
Scholarship: Applications are being accepted for the Loudoun Douglass Alumni Association Scholarship. Please contact Mary Randolph at 703-777-8270 to request an application. The scholarship deadline is June 1 and all applications must be postmarked by this date.
Class reunion: Loudoun Valley High School Class of 1978 will be celebrating its 30-year class reunion on Aug. 9 at River Creek Country Club in Leesburg. For further information, please visit the Web site at www.lvhs1978.com.
