Sweet Delights, Farm Color Tour and Hamilton Day
By Terry Moon
Sweet Delights: Patricia Lovelady and Georjan Overman invite you to stop by Hamilton's Sweet Delights at 52-B W. Colonial Highway. This shop, across from the post office, offers cakes, pies, cookies and candy. They accept special orders for all occasions for cakes, pies and cookies. They offer a selection of freshly baked breads. Pat suggests you call the day before with your order as the bread sells quickly. Candy available includes six kinds of fudge, turtles and pralines in addition to a wide selection of packaged candy. Call Pat or Georjan at 703-930-7415 or 703-424-3329. Hamilton Sweet Delights showcases the work of local artists on their walls, and many of the works are for sale.
Farm Color Tour: The 2008 Farm Color Tour on May 17-18 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. includes two stops in Hamilton, Ellmore's Garden Center and the Natural Mercantile of Hamilton.
Ellmore's Greenhouses of Ellmore's Garden Center at 86 N. Reid St. has been in business for 35 years. They have more than 38 varieties of tomatoes including heirloom varieties. Boston fern baskets, beautiful geraniums and a wide selection of annuals are available. On Saturday, the Gingersnap Girls Foundation, a nonprofit humane organization, will be at Ellmore's with its pony mascot Li'l Chief.
The Natural Mercantile of Hamilton at 341 E. Colonial Highway will be on the tour Saturday only. This is one of the first health food stores in Loudoun County. Sample assorted foods, organic wines and dairy products. The shop offers “green” cleaning products and a wide selection of organic food and produce.
Hamilton Day: Keep May 31 open on your calendar as Hamilton Day will be celebrated then. Plans include a parade and many activities at the Hamilton Community Park.
