Witnesses needed in Cascades crash investigation

If you saw a crash around 12:30 p.m. on Cascades Parkway at Price-Cascades Plaza in Sterling June 19, the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office wants to talk to you, spokesman Kraig Troxell said.

Deputies were called to the area for a wreck involving a motorcycle. In the crash, a 2004 Ford F-150, driven by Deborah Kremer, 50, of Springfield, tried to turn left into Price-Cascades Plaza from southbound Cascades Parkway when her pickup was struck in the rear passenger side area by a 2007 Honda CBR1000RR sport motorcycle driven northbound by Nicholas Noll, 31, of Ashburn.

Noll was airlifted to Inova Fairfax Hospital for life-threatening injuries. He is listed in stable condition. He was wearing a Department of Transportation-approved full-face helmet, a padded motorcycle-riding jacket, gloves and motorcycling boots. Kremer was not injured.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation. Deputies were able to talk to at least one witness who remained at the scene. Anyone else who saw this crash and has not spoken with the Sheriff's Office is asked to call Deputy Specialist J.M. McClintic at 703-771-5798.

i was not there. i'm sorry i can't help. i hope the motorcyclist recovers from his injuries. i also feel bad for the woman driving the truck. such a terrible situation.

NOTE TO SPORT MOTORCYCLE DRIVERS: please use the streets of our county and our country as they were meant to be used. please don't give-in to exercising the 'racetrack' capabilities of your machine in non-racetrack venues. i know the temptation is strong, but your LIFE'S SAFETY and the PROTECTION OF OTHERS' LIVES is paramount. no one wants anyone to be hurt in this fashion. i don't know the details surrounding this particular traffic incident, and oftentimes an accident involving a motorcycle is not that cyclist's fault. however, oftentimes it's the fault of poor safety habits of a cyclist. we want everyone to peacefully co-exist on the road, and this can only happen when everyone drives with safety at the forefront of their minds.

thank you.
