Briefs: Drug cards, shelter fees, DMV hours, heard saying
Prescription drug discount cardsLoudoun residents can save up to 20 percent on prescription drug costs through a new program offered by the county.
All residents, regardless of age, income or existing health conditions, are eligible to receive free prescription drug discount cards that are accepted at drug stores throughout Loudoun and the country.
The program is sponsored by the National Association of Counties, and the cards are available at pharmacies, community centers and senior centers in Loudoun.

Shelter fees
The Board of Supervisors approved June 9 a series of fee hikes at the county's animal shelter in Waterford.
Changes include increasing spay and neuter fees for dogs by $25 and $30, respectively. The shelter is also raising adoption and license fees and some impoundment and boarding costs.
Shelter officials estimate the changes will generate about $100,000 more a year for the facility.
The new fee structure goes into effect July 1.
Arcola centers
The Department of Parks, Recreation and Community Services recently announced that it moved the Arcola Community Center and Arcola Senior Activity Center from the old Arcola Elementary School to their new permanent location in South Riding.
The move represents the first phase of the new 24,000-square-foot Dulles South Multipurpose Center, which includes classrooms, meeting rooms, multipurpose room, activities room, indoor recreation area, restrooms and offices.

New hours
The Department of Motor Vehicles office in Purcellville is now open on Saturdays between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. However, no emission or inspection services will occur on this day.
In a release, officials said they added the extra day of service "to be more convenient to its customers."
The office, which is at 109 North Bailey Lane, is also open Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
Foreclosure clinic
The Virginia Housing Development Authority will hold a free clinic on avoiding foreclosure on June 21 in Chantilly. Time and location:
8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Chantilly High School, 4201 Stringfellow Road.
