Getting gussied up, east and west: Two new salons open in the county

County residents have two new salons they can visit, both offering more than a simple shampoo and haircut – Carlos Salon and Day Spa in Leesburg and Princi Salon and Spa in Purcellville.
Carlos Salon and Day Spa
With more than 30 years of personal experience in the hair-styling industry, Carlos Ayala-Galiano has brought his expertise to Leesburg's historic downtown.
Carlos Salon and Day Spa opened May 1, offering a wide range of hair-styling services – shampoo, cut, highlights, coloring and corrective coloring, and ethnic hair services, to name a few.
Even though the salon has already opened in an 1843 former residence at 212 S. King St., plans for the spa portion of the business still are under way.
“There is going to be an exclusive spa opening in the near future,” Carlos said.
“It will be a different experience,” he said.
Plans for the future spa include outdoor manicures and pedicures with a water fountain and fire pit during the evening hours, and a juice bar. Carlos also is looking into extending services to laser hair removal and hiring an on-site nutritionist.
“Anyone can get a pedicure anywhere they want,” Carlos said, “but our clients will have an experience.”
The salon also carries Carlos' own product line, Ayliano's, which consists of all types of hair products and will soon include skin care products.
Along with the salon and future spa services, Carlos also opens his space up for monthly seminars for all types of businesses to hold meetings.
Princi Salon and Spa
Princi Salon and Spa opened June 3 in Purcellville, offering clients hair, nail and facial services with a staff with an average total of 20 years of experience.
“Things have been going well,” said Bernadette Charland, spa coordinator and daughter of salon owner Giuseppa Nygaard. “We have had a lot of inquiries and a lot of the clients who followed stylists here.”
Princi Salon and Spa employs five stylists from salons around the area.
“Opening day was nice for everyone because we were all able to be in the salon together,” Charland said.
And the salon, as described by Charland, exudes the feeling of Italian romanticism, “a classy feel but not uptight. [The salon] is very relaxed.”
Along with hair, nail and body treatments, the salon offers packages geared toward wedding and bridal parties, and the staff focuses on customer service.
“We all think [customer service] is what is really important,” Charland said.
