Countywide health-care survey under way
Loudoun officials want to know how healthy the county is.
The county's Health Department recently embarked on a summer-long program with the goal of measuring the state of health care in Loudoun and the wellness of its residents.
"This is the first time we have formally done this," said Dr. David Goodfriend, Health Department director.
The goal of the program -- called the Loudoun Health Check -- is for at least 10,000 residents to take part.
A 20-question survey, which is available in English and Spanish, takes about 5 minutes to fill out and is available online at www.loudounhealthcheck.com.
Questions range from, “When have you last visited a doctor or dentist?” to “How affordable do you find health care in Loudoun?”
Goodfriend said results will be used to measure health-care needs and service gaps in Loudoun.
He said the results also will enable the county to make better recommendations on health-care services and coverage to private health-care practices in the area.
"[The survey] is the best way to know what residents' priorities are," he said.
Results will be posted online this fall.
Residents who participate have a chance of winning a $20 gas card or an emergency preparedness kit.
