Lovettsville native becomes state trooper

A Lovettsville native recently began patrolling the streets as a Virginia state police officer. On July 3, 59 members of the 114th Basic Session graduated at the Virginia State Police Academy in Richmond.

Trooper Ryan T. Lutman, 25, of Lovettsville, began his first patrol assignment July 7 in Arlington.

Trooper Lutman is a graduate of Virginia Tech with a bachelors degree in agriculture and applied economics.

A nine-year member of Lovettsville Volunteer Fire and Rescue, Trooper Lutman chose to pursue a career with the Virginia State Police for the Departments reputation and its many training and skills opportunities.

As the need for highly skilled and capable law enforcement officers increases, the department continues to seek qualified applicants for the trooper and commercial vehicle enforcement officer positions.

Interested applicants are encouraged to contact the Virginia State Police Recruitment Office at the toll-free number 1-866-877-2329 or visit the departments Web site at www.virginiatrooper.org.
