Class Acts

The following is a list of ongoing classes in Loudoun County.


Health

CPR and AED. Curt Newport, of EMT2GO, is offering the following CPR and AED (automated external defibrillator) classes on Saturday, July 19, at the Leesburg Comfort Suites.

  • CPR/AED for Community and Workplace (two-year certification)

  • Adult CPR/AED for Family and Friends (completion card issued, noncertification class)

  • CPR recertification and exam

Performing Arts

"Rapiers and Daggers." Series of three Saturday-afternoon seminars on sword-fighting techniques by Aurora Studio Theatre. July 12, July 19 and July 26, noon-3 p.m. Carver Center auditorium in Purcellville. For rising ninth-graders and older. Class size limited; early registration recommended. With veteran actors James Campanella and Carolyn Christenson; techniques include rapier and dagger, attack (cut and thrust), parry and footwork. Loudoun Academy of the Arts. The following art classes are scheduled at 222 S. King St. in Leesburg:

  • “Painting the Still Life,” with Michael Davis. Wednesdays, July 2-Aug. 6, 6:30-9:30 p.m. $175.

  • “The Visual Eye Landscape,” with Kathi Fertig. Saturdays, July 12-Aug. 2, 8:30-11 a.m. $100.

  • “Clay Potpourri,” with Nancy Frank. Thursdays, July 10-31, 6:30-9 p.m. $120.

  • “Fine Art Frolics,” for ages 5-9. Saturdays, July 19-Aug. 23, 10 a.m.-noon. $145 plus $20 supply fee.

Round Hill Arts Center. New additions: teen pottery camp with Amy Oliver and "More Flower Power" watercolor workshop with Catherine Hillis. Other classes include pottery for adults and teens of all levels, one-day introductory pottery workshops, figure drawing sessions, "Drawing on Nature Camp" for rising third- through fifth-graders, “Hands-On Studio” for preschoolers, and educational gallery talks for groups. 6 W.
