The Washington Ballet

Artistic Director Septime Webre’s D.C.-themed adaptation transports the audience back in time to historic Washington, with George Washington as the heroic Nutcracker and King George III as the villainous Rat King. Accompanied by the Nutcracker Orchestra. Features students from its three school campuses in northwest Washington, D.C., southeast Washington, D.C., and Alexandria.

Loudoun Ballet

Loudoun Ballet Company. Friday, Dec. 19, 7:30 p.m.; Saturday, Dec 20, 1 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.; and Sunday, Dec. 21, at 1 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. Heritage High School, 520 Evergreen Mill Road, Leesburg.

Production is artistically adapted from the work of Loudoun Ballet Company founder Sheila Hoffmann-Robertson, a descendant of E.T.A. Hoffmann, as well as Artistic Director Maureen Miller’s choreography.

Includes more than 200 local performers, 175 of them children. The role of Cavalier will be performed by Norbert Nirewicz; the role of The Sugar Plum Fairy will be performed by Louisa Ireland, Ashlynn Jones and Christine Jordan; and the role of Clara will be performed by Taylor Gladstone, Kathryn Nachajski and Emma Stockton.
