By Shannon Sollinger
A small to medium-size brown and white terrier-type dog bit a child at the Station Auto Wash at 149 Catoctin Circle S.E. in Leesburg Aug. 19. Animal Care and Control needs the public's help in finding the dog to verify its vaccination status. The child suffered minor injuries. If the dog is not located and found to be vaccinated for rabies, the child will have to be inoculated, said Chief Animal Control Officer Kim Miller.
Anyone who saw the incident, or who might know where the dog and its owners can be found, is asked to call 703-777-0406.
The incident occurred in the afternoon. The child had asked if the dog was friendly and was given permission to pet it, and the dog bit her in the face, according to Animal Care and Control records of the incident. The dog was wearing a collar and may be named "Max."
The owner, a woman, left with the dog in a silver or gold Nissan Murano.
