A home on a grand scale
By Hannah Hager
It's hard to hone in on the best thing about this home. Is it the 5,000 square feet, the five bedrooms or the prime location? Maybe it's the master suite or the dance studio? It's hard to know for sure, but it's easy to see why it'll make it on your short list of must-sees.
Let's take it from the top: The master suite, arguably the selling point of the home, is in the center of the upper level. It is a getaway in the privacy of your own home. It features hardwood flooring, recessed lighting, a tray ceiling and a wet bar. A private outdoor porch overlooks the tree-lined property. The large master bathroom has a soak tub, a large stand-up shower with a tile seat, his and her vanities and separate walk-in closets.
A large bedroom with a walk-in closet and full bathroom is at one end of the home, and three other bedrooms are down the hall. Two of the bedrooms, including the princess suite, have full bathrooms. All the bedrooms have large walk-in closets.
Hardwood floors guide the way to the curved staircase that descends into the main foyer. Tumbled marble tile flooring graces the entryway and leads to the back of the house. A formal dining room with shadow-box trim and a chandelier with a medallion is to the right of the front door. The formal living room is to the left. Both rooms boast triple crown molding, floor-to-ceiling transom windows and columns.
A study through French doors also is at the front of the house, and a powder room is off the hallway leading to the back of the house.
The main living area is a sight to be seen. Large windows capturing almost every open wall space provide majestic views of trees and fields. In the family room, a marble-trimmed gas fireplace is the centerpiece. The room opens up to a large breakfast or sunroom area in the back of the home.
The dining room is connected to the kitchen, which features a secretary's desk, a large center island with a bar top, cherry cabinets and black granite countertops. The stainless steel appliances include a Sub-Zero refrigerator and a six-burner dual range with hood. A wet bar with a wine refrigerator connects the kitchen to the formal dining room. Further along, a mudroom area opens up to the three-bay garage.
If this house hasn't impressed you yet, the downstairs will seal the deal. The large recreational area affords an abundance of light. A den is to the right, and a dance studio – finished off with hardwood floors and a wall of mirrors – is to the left. A full bathroom sits just outside the studio.
Tucked in a private cul-de-sac, this home might not be the first to catch your eye, but it'll be the one to get you to sign on the dotted line.
