Eagles glide to third in state gymnastics meet

Tue., Feb. 21 | 11:47 AM - Freedom High School capped an outstanding 2011-2012 gymnastics season with a third-place team finish at the Virginia High School League Gymnastics Championships Feb. 17 at Salem High School in Virginia Beach.

Ashburn resident brings home state title for APEX

Mon., Mar. 26 | 05:40 PM - APEX gymnast Maddy Scozzie earned a state title March 23-24 in Richmond at the level 9 State Championships. Scozzie, a senior at Broad Run High School who will compete next year for SUNY Cortland, won the all-around gold medal. Additionally, she took gold in vault and balance beam and placed second in floor.

Tue., Mar. 20 | 10:16 AM - Three APEX boys gymnasts were crowned state champions at the Virginia Men's Gymnastics Championships, March 10-11 in Richmond.

APEX gymnasts tumble for a cause

Thu., Mar. 1 | 12:23 PM - Three APEX Gymnastics squads placed first at the Pink Invitational, contested Feb. 24-26 in Philadelphia, Pa. The event raised $60,000 for breast cancer research and was attended by more than 2,000 gymnasts, including former Olympic gymnast Shannon Miller.

APEX Gymnastics to host Emerald City Classic in March

Mon., Feb. 20 | 12:30 PM - APEX Gymnastics in Leesburg will host the 12th annual Emerald City Classic March 2-4. The competition will feature more than 600 gymnasts representing more than 20 clubs from Virginia, Maryland and West Virginia.

Freedom, Robinson show best at region gymnastics

Thu., Feb. 16 | 02:07 PM - Freedom High School qualified for the state gymnastics meet after winning the Northwest Region team title Feb. 11 at Stafford High School. The Eagles scored 144.25 points to edge host Stafford, who scored 143.8 points.
