A rare, and historic opportunity has arisen in Western Loudoun County, Virginia for the faith community, local government, schools, non-profit organizations, businesses and the media to partner and unite our community by participating in a Thanksgiving Service. All are invited and encouraged to attend.

For the past year, “Pray Purcellville” has been faithfully meeting every week on Tuesdays from 8-9 AM at the Purcellville train station to pray for Purcellville. About 30 people are associated with the group from approximately 15 churches. Anybody who has a passion to pray with others and their townsfolk are welcome. The Pray Purcellville group is facilitated by Dave & Jamie Dittmeier, the proprietors of the Christian Shoppe in Purcellville. The group prays each week for many issues relevant to our community.

It was the Lord Jesus Christ at the time of his ascension who commanded His disciples to tarry and wait for the Holy Spirit in order to receive power. The result was Pentecost and the birth of the church. A study of the Scriptures shows that this is one of many scores of commands and examples for believers in Christ to pray that His Father’s Will be done on earth as it is in Heaven. Almighty God does in fact desire our communion with Him through prayer and actually requires prayer of His people at all levels. We understand that praying releases the Will of God through His body the church and through individual believers.

In an effort to further strengthen our community and give impetus to the Pray Purcellville Team, a community Thanksgiving Service is planned on November 24, two days prior to Thanksgiving. The initiative has the blessing of the Superintendent of Schools and the Mayors of Hamilton, Purcellville and Round Hill. Invitations have gone out to about 20 churches and ministries and a dozen local schools and one college to participate in this historic first-time, large-scale event. The service is to be facilitated by Pray Purcellville and Purcellville Baptist Church who have kindly offered to host it in their new facility which seats 700 people.

 PBC

Purcellville Baptist Church to Host Thanksgiving Service

We are entering the next phase of what God is using to teach us about His purposes. We have gone from intimacy in the beginning, to separation, the tabernacle, the cross, the Body of Christ, to building churches, to denominations, to Christian organizations, and now to the Kingdom. Our focus must be on Him and His Kingdom alone and not our own.

PURPOSE OF THE THANKSGIVING SERVICE

a) For local government, schools, the faith community, businesses and the media to partner together to bless, unite and strengthen our community through a Western Loudoun Community Thanksgiving Service.

b) To invite principals, teachers and staff from local schools, and colleges and parents who home school to attend the Thanksgiving Service on Nov 24. For the Mayors/local government of Purcellville, Hamilton and Round Hill to recognize and thank principals, teachers, staff and parents that home school for their good work and service they provide our community.

c) For pastors to recognize and thank our Mayors and local government for their good work and dedication.

d) To take up a special offering at the Thanksgiving Service to give equally to the schools for needy families.

e) To launch the newly formed Western Loudoun Food Pantry (a coalition of churches, organizations, and businesses) to help needy families and invite the community to participate in the first food drive to bring non perishable food to the event. A collection capability will be available at the church.

f) To invite the community to bring snacks and share fellowship together after the service. There will not be a sit down dinner.

And let us resolve in this season to live as "living stones [who] are being built into a spiritual house." (1 Peter 2:4-5)

HOW YOU CAN HELP

1) Bring non perishable food on Nov 24 for the Western Loudoun food pantry.

2) Bring snacks /drinks to the back of the hall so that people can eat together in fellowship after the service. Tables will be provided.

3) Make a donation to PBC, make payment to Thanksgiving Service.

4) Volunteer to help us contact schools, pastors, organizations and get the word out to our community.

5) Come and join the Pray Purcellville Group at 8-9 AM every Tuesday at the Purcellville train station

6) Pray passionately for the event.

Believe in the “unity among elders” to start this revival and the gathering will duplicate what was said of the early Church in Acts 4:32: “Now the multitude of those who believed was of one heart and one soul."
